Our MDF Plantation Shutter range is extremely popular, it has it’s limitation and it has it’s benefits. MDF as a material is very stable and isn’t prone to warping or splitting like other natural materials, it will withstand variations in temperature very well and is particularly strong. Our MDF Shutters have an LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) core, an outer MDF body and a tough polymer coating making it remarkably durable. It is finished with 7 coats of UV resistant paint available in 5 shades of white and creams.
There are occasions where MDF Shutters are not suitable. Although MDF is very strong, it cannot withstand moisture and is therefore not appropriate for Bathrooms and other areas prone to high moisture. We offer a ABS Vinyl Bathroom Shutter which is ideal for this. MDF Shutters are heavier than their hardwood siblings and therefore have limitations on Patio Doors and very large windows, this can often be overcome by installing ‘T-Posts” or a Tracking system, but on some occasions we will recommend a lighter wood Shutter.
The MDF range comes in 5 shades of Whites and Creams. Pure White, Silk White, Pearl, Bright White & Creamy. If you are looking for any other colour or stain MDF Shutters are not for you.
But don’t be fooled, some of our competitors make remarks such as “Cheap Quality” or “Inferior Product”, this simply is not true. We have had the misfortune of sourcing our Shutters from suppliers with cheaper Hardwood and Vinyl alternatives and we were flabbergasted by the poor craftsmanship and lack of consistency with their product.
